Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. The weather here in Toronto was exceptionally beautiful. It was the first weekend in July where there was no rain and 100% sunshine. It was the perfect summer weekend filled with pool parties and celebrations.
Today’s outfit on the blog is all about this beautiful dress. This dress is definitely something different. I love the sleeves with the frills and the pleated collar around the neck line. This dress has gorgeous detailing along the hemlines and the print is adorable. I am usually attracted to florals and polka dots for my patterns, but this dress had a beautiful bird pattern that caught my eye.
I am a sucker for pastels and will probably purchase any item of pastel clothing. Spring and summer time are the perfect times to rock a beautiful pastel piece. Soft hues are a classic spring staple and are timeless enough that you can wear them year after year. Now, I know we are getting close towards the end of summer and the stores are starting to bring out their fall line fill with filled with fall colours, but I am still going to share with you my 4 tips on how to style pastels.
1. Monochrome. Choose one color and stick with it throughout your outfit. Pink on pink… amiright ladies? This is a perfect excuse to style the perfect baby pink outfit and not be accused of being to matchy-matchy. At least thats the excuse I would use. Try it with one of your favourite Patel colours this summer!
2. Mixing Pastels. I love mixing and matching different colours together! Experimenting with clothing is one of my favourite things to do. Plus it allows you to create new ways to style and create new outfits with different items of clothing. Mixing and matching pastels, for the most part, works in any shape or form. Its like working with basics! Give it a go!Pair a few different pastel colors together for a soft yet bold look.
3. Paring it with Neutrals. A perfect example of this is my outfit I am styling for you today. I decided to make my dress the staple piece and then I accessorized it and paired it with neutrals. If you want a piece of clothing or even an accessory to pop in an outfit, the secret is to make everything else in your outfit neutral. Make your pastel piece pop by keeping the rest of your color palette simple.
4. Contrasting With Brights. Like I have said before, my wardrobe is not shy of colour, especially in the summer, you probably will never ever find me wearing black. Bright, fun, and neon colours are the perfect added fun piece to any outfit. Want to rock a neon pink jacket with a pastel green dress? How about a neon yellow purse with some pastel blue trousers? Go for it! Fashion is fun, fashion is adventerous. Add a little edge to the softness of the pastel with bright, fun accessories.
