Vegan Nutella

I hope you all are having  great long weekend! Today’s recipe is featuring one of my favourite treats! Growing up as a kid nutella was my number one weakness. I wanted to put nutella on everything and eat it 24/7. I was a very hyper kid growing up! I remember my grandmother used to always have her cupboard stocked with this delicious chocolaty hazel nut spread. If you are Italian, then this heavenly dessert is no stranger to your house hold.

On my cheat days I tend to gravitate towards chocolate. Chocolate is my weakness… chocolate ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cake, chocolate brownies… okay now I am just getting hungry! Anyways, my goal was to create a recipe that would satisfy my taste buds and be 100% tasty and delicious while still being healthy! That’s how I got the idea for vegan nutella! The main ingredient, as you all know, are hazelnuts. Hazelnuts contain heart-healthy fats that can protect heart health. Specifically, they are high in healthy polyunsaturated and mononunsaturated fats and low in unhealthier unsaturated fats. Hazelnuts are a good source of oleic acid. Oleic acid can help to lower levels of bad cholesterol, LDL, and can raise levels of good cholesterol, HDL, in the body. This makes hazelnuts a good addition to salads and baked muffins.

Confession: This one time, in high school, I ate a half jar of Nutella…in one evening….after dinner…on chocolate chip cookies.

Oh, don’t act like I’m the only one with no self control!

This recipe is simple requiring just 7 ingredients and 10 minutes start to finish. It’s also delicious, vegan, gluten free, and ridiculously close to the real thing. Win-win!

Vegan Nutella

Servings: 6 People
  • 2 Cups Raw Hazelnuts
  • 2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 Cup Organic Honey
  • 1/2 Cup Raw Cocoa Powder
  • 1/2 Cup Unsweetened Chocolate Organic Almond Milk
  • 2 Tbls Coconut Oil
  1. In a food processor add the raw hazelnuts and coconut oil and blend together until smooth

  2. Slowly add the rest of the ingredients until smooth
