If you follow me on social media you then you know that I was super busy last week attending the Yves Saint Laurent Hotel beauty experience. I have been to many fashion shows and fashion events but this one was my first beauty event and it was amazing! On the first day, I got a chance to sit in on a Master Class put on by one of their amazing make-up artists. He taught me so many different tips and tricks when it comes to applying your make up.
Recently, I have tried to experiment more with my makeup and beauty routine every day. Growing up I used to play with my mom’s makeup all the time and I loved playing with a dramatic look. As I got older I shifted my focus more towards fashion and always stuck with the plain-jane look of just a little foundation, some bronzer, mascara, and lip gloss. This was more of my day-to-day look but I would still love to play around with my nighttime looks. One rule of thumb I have always abided by is if you do a dramatic eye you can’t do a dramatic lip and vice versa. It can be overwhelming and there tends to not be a focal point and you could end up looking like a clown. If you’d like to see some of my favourite drugstore lipsticks I use then check them out here.
Teaching yourself how to put on and use your own makeup, you tend to pick up your own habits and tricks of the trade. After learning about the different types of makeup and how to best apply it to your face, my make up routine has totally changed! For example, dabbing your foundation around your face rather than rubbing or wiping it with a brush allows for better coverage and blends a lot better. Some of you may have already known that but if you’re like me, that’s a total game changer!
I have never been one to gravitate towards luxury makeup brands. The farthest I’ve ever gone is MAC cosmetics and even then some people don’t even consider that a luxury brand. Drugstore makeup has always been my go-to because it’s simple and cost effective. After using Yves Saint Laurent products and incorporating them into my everyday makeup routine you can totally see the difference and appreciate the quality a lot more. Stay tuned for a beauty routine up on the blog, but until then scroll down to check out the entire #yslbeautyhotel experience!
