Now that school is back and the warm summer days are over, it doesn’t mean we have to stay cooped up inside. I love getting out and doing fun activities on the weekends. It’s a great way to destress from a busy week and spend quality time with loved ones. Fall is by far one of the most beautiful times of the year. Spring is gorgeous with all of the colourful blooms and winter is stunning with the white winter land. But, something about the fall makes me all happy inside. Besides pumpkin picking, apple picking is a must for me and my family every summer! I remember doing it as kids all the time. It’s so fun running through the trees and picking delicious and juicy apples. Gavin and I have started to make it a tradition to check out a new farm every year and pick their apples. Last year we visited Pinefarms Orchard. Not only were their grounds stunning and their apples delicious, but their bakery inside was to-die-for. My mouth still waters thinking about it.
Being brought up around Italian culture has allowed me to develop a love and appreciation for cooking. Fall recipes are the most delicious and mouth-watering recipes by far. With all of the spices and fresh produce, it’s hard to resist. It must be why Thanksgiving is my favourite holiday of the year. Last year was my first time making pasta from scratch. I grew up eating homemade pasta from my grandmothers all the time. I thought it was my turn to try out that tradition for myself. My favourite fall pasta is butternut squash ravioli. Oh-em-gee! Much like any other time of the ear, it’s always important to make time for your loved ones and/or significant others. We all lead busy lives and it’s always important to take a night to just relax and spend some quality time with the people you love. After the busy summer and before the busy holidays, fall is the perfect time to head out in the town, cozy up to a movie, or take a drive out to see some gorgeous foliage.
Hello! What’s a better fall activity than pumpkin picking, and of course, the best part, CARVING! I always try and find the biggest pumpkin in the patch every year, but I’m never able to carry it to the car. Which leaves me to bring home a smaller pumpkin to carve 😂. Either way, it’s always a fun tradition and a great way to spend a night by carving pumpkins and watching Halloween movies.
Gavin and I love visiting wineries and learning about the winemaking process. While we love visiting during the summers, we thought it would be a great idea to visit one in the fall. None of the grapes are on the vines. Most of them have been picked or dried out for the season. We found a winery called The Grange that offers picnic’s on their grounds while enjoying their great wines. It was absolutely beautiful!
These are all great ideas. We usually go to apple farms and pumpkin patches during the fall. We always have a lot of fun there.
