When it comes to shopping and picking out outfits style and cut are one of the most important things to consider. Certain dresses don’t always flatter everyone’s body type and no style is right for everyone. One of my favourite style of dresses or tops to wear is the halter neck. Whatever neckline you choose to go with, you want to make the best of your look and your outfit. Make sure it’s the right one. Understanding your body type and what looks good for you is crucial and important when it comes to looking polished. I talk a little more about this here to help you understand your body type and what looks good for you.
In knowing what neckline looks good for you, you need to consider two things. Firstly, you need to consider your body proportions and choose a piece of clothing that flatters those proportions. If you have a small chest and athletic shoulders, then a halter neck is great for you. It allows you to show off your arms while proportioning it to your neck and chest. Secondly, you need to consider whether or not the neckline you choose is functional. For example, if you have a larger chest, you wouldn’t choose to wear a plunging neckline into the office environment.
Like I mentioned before, one of my favourite necklines to wear is the halter neck. Let’s go over the 5 flattering benefits to wearing a halter neckline.
1. Creating a Balancing Effect: Halter necklines are great for showcasing shoulders and drawing the eye upward, creating a balancing effect. Halter necklines also help to balance petite women who have broad shoulders because it helps to porpotions their top halves with their bottom halves.
2. Statement Jewellery Draws Tasteful Attention: Statement necklaces are such a chic trend to be able to pull off and yes even if the halter neck is too high and your neck isn’t exposed you can still rock it. Chunkier pieces look cool and modern when worn appropriately.
3. Create Volume: Halter necklines have an extended tight-fitting high collar that tends to create volume in the neck area. A halter with a bit of a turtleneck (like the one I am wearing here) that hits a couple of inches below the chin will whittle away your height, making it best for those who want to offset a long neck or face.
4. Hourglass Body: Going off of point number 1, halter necklines create a balancing effect. These effects are very beneficial for women who have an hourglass body structure. The halter will help balance the shoulders with the width of the hips to help give your body a more balanced look.
5. Toned Arms: If you have an athletic build or have been spending a lot of time at the gym and want to show off your arm muscle, then this is the neckline for you! It really helps to draw attention to your shoulders and arms in a flattering and tasteful way.
However, like I said in the beginning, not every style is made for everyone’s body type. It is very important to understand your proportions and what works for you. If you are bustier women with bulkier arms then this may not be the neckline for you. This neckline will great more volume in the top visually making you look wider than you actually are.
