Being a busy woman on the go and getting through the hustle and bustle of the city life, it’s hard to sit back and take some time for yourself. At the start of 2019, I made a lot of goals for myself. None of the goals, however, pertained to self-care. While I am quite an ambitious person, I am constantly thinking of business goals and ways to improve myself so that I can become a better entrepreneur. I never realized how important it was to think of ways to take care of yourself mentally and physically. It wasn’t until I started to get overwhelmed with everything that it started to hit me. I finally decided to stop everything and take a day for myself. One of the best things to do for self-care is to spend a day at the spa.
Get a Massage
Getting a message is one of the most relaxing feelings ever. I was never a fan of massages until recently. I am quite a ticklish person so I found people rubbing their hands on me to be torture instead of relaxing. Being hunched over on the computer all day, sitting in a chair for more than 8 hours straight, and typing on social media all day can do quite a number on your muscles. I find I carry all of my tension and stress in my muscles, as most of us do. The best way to relieve that tension is by getting a message. Trust me, now that I can appreciate them, they are magical.
Take a Bath
If getting a message still isn’t your thing, try taking a warm bath. Grab your favourite book, magazine, or play some music. I love taking a bath on a Friday night, after a long week, pouring myself a glass of wine, and catching up on my Netflix shows. I wish I could do this every Friday night, but I try and squeeze one in at least every other month.
Take a Yoga Class
If you have been following me for a while, you know how important yoga is to me. Exercise is my medicine and stress is my enemy. Sometimes when I am in a very stressful situation, or I have had a very stressful day, I often take a 10-15 minute break and just do some yoga. By stretching and twisting your able to release the tension in your muscles and joints and relax. This allows me to regroup focus on the task at hand. One of my favourite videos to follow is Yoga with Adriene videos. She is an excellent yoga instructor and her classes are really relaxing and easy to follow.
