With the weather getting warmer Gavin and I love spending our time outdoors. We are always thinking of new and fun ways to spend our time outside. With all the humidity and the heat warnings, being outside during the daytime can be brutal. You can’t even go outside to the mailbox without sweating. Gavin and I have been meaning on going for a picnic for a while now so I recently purchased this new picnic basket. We absolutely love it. With all the free time Gavin has now from finishing his exams (woohoo) we decided to go for a quiet picnic for two this past weekend. It was really nice being able to just get away from the loud city of Toronto and find a quiet place to enjoy some time together.
We found a quiet little space behind Sunnybrook Estates, which is really close to home, and decided to find a big beautiful tree to sit under. We definitely need to make more of an effort to get out over there because it’s beautiful! The setting sun created a golden glow between the trees and the beautiful estates. The weather was a lot cooler and we were able to comfortably enjoy some time outside.
We picked up some of our favourite foods from the local market. We love making sandwiches and snacking on some crackers with cold cuts. I personally love cheese and olives. Gavin, on the other hand, cannot stand olives, so luckily we do not have that to fight over. To go with our sandwiches Gavin picked up some Bick’s garlic pickles, Tre Stelle Bocconcini, and some artichoke spread. We love mixing and matching with different flavours so I decided on grabbing the assorted crackers and two different kinds of baguettes to enjoy. Of course, there is no romantic meal for two without a bottle of wine.
Gavin and I rarely go for the same bottle of wine off the shelf, we always love trying new ones. This time I decided to go for a local brand of Strewn Two Vines Cabernet Merlot VQA. This wine is more of a dry wine with a medium body and goes down very smoothly.
Recently I have been really into hats and styling them with my everyday outfits. I never used to like hats or ever thought they looked good on me until I recently gave them another shot. I purchased this one a while ago at Forever 21 and I think it is so adorable. I absolutely love the polka dot ribbon finished as a bow in the back. It gives it a good feminine and girly touch. When you are sitting on the grass you want to make sure you are wearing something comfy so I decided to go with this yellow checkered dress I also purchased a while ago at Forever 21. I think it is the cutest little picnic dress ever!
Now that we have the perfect picnic basket and essentials I think we will be going on many different adventures!
