I have been taking a bit of a blog hiatus as of late. Part of it has been that I have been really busy and overwhelmed with my day job. Part of my body needs to take a mental break from social media and the internet world. I love picking up artistic hobbies such as panting. Recently, I have been interested begin to learn how to sew. I find creating things outside of the social media and internet world is also very full-filling and less stressful at time. Learning how to take breaks and focus on yourself is something I have taken very seriously lately.
However a few weeks ago Gavin and I visited a sunflower farm close to home. I captured some beautiful flowers and we really enjoyed our morning here and I couldn’t help but to share these beautiful pictures with you all. While today’s blog post is not necessarily around fashion, I will add that I purposely picked this blue and white dress for the occasion. I tend to pick my outfits based on colour and contrast. The blue and yellow contrasted perfectly and compliment each other so well. I couldn’t help but to galavant all around the sunflowers that day. These babies are only in bloom 2-3 weeks out of the year. So if you want to see them, you have such a tiny window of opportunity.
While COVID was a scare for everyone world wide. I made sure to take the opportunity to slow down. I looked at quarantine as a blessing. Yes, we were not able to see friends and family for a while and we had to adapt to work from home. There are a lot of other blessings that have happened. I have started looking at this as a glass half full type of scenario. While my heart and prayers are with the families suffering from the repercussions COVID, I can’t help but to thank God for my blessings and not look at my situation negatively.
One thing I learned to do is slow down. Mentally, physically, and emotionally. Like I said above, stepping away from the blog and social media is a good thing. Being able to pick up hobbies such as painting and sewing has been great. It’s healthy to take time for yourself, learn about yourself, and focus on yourself. My mental and emotional state during the last 5 months has never been better. The lessons I have learnt over the past few months, I plan on continuing to practice them for a long time.
