With summer finally here I am always on the hunt to find clothing and fabrics that are breathable and lightweight for the summer time. I am constantly trying to find clothes that are fashionable with fabric that isn’t too thick. This year my go-to fabric has been linen. I have been purchasing linen dresses, linen blouses, and even linen skirts! This fabric has so many benefits and amazing qualities that you are going to want to get your hands on it this summer! I am going to explain the benefits and why I feel every woman should own linen clothing for the summer.
1. It’s Easy Breezy
Firstly, linen fabric has many attractive properties such as it’s easy breezy characteristic. Linen is a more of a stiff fabric, not to get it confused with ‘thick’ fabric, but due to its properties, it allows your clothing to not cling to your body in the humidity. This allows your clothing to be more breathable and cool you down more during those hot days. The properties of linen fabric and the way the thread is weaved allows the air to flow through the fabric a lot easier and allow’s your body to breathe and cool down.
2. Absorbs your Sweat
Fun fact: Did you know that linen is a good conductor of heat? It keeps your body free of moisture and it is highly absorbent of your sweat! Linen cloth can absorb as much as 1/5 of its weight before giving a feeling of being damp or wet. How cool is that? Your linen fabrics will never feel clammy because water evaporates off of linen very quickly. It’s like wearing your own cooling system!
3. Reflects Heat
Who doesn’t want to wear fabric in the summertime that reflects heat? right! Everyone should be wearing linen all summer long! Clearly, it’s the only way to survive the raging humidity. To those of you who are wearing cotton, silk, or polyester you need to take off those nonbreathable fabrics and get your hands on some linen. The way that linen is threaded actually allows for good air flow throughout your clothing. This will allow you to feel cooler throughout the day. Since linen is cooling you down throughout the day you are less likely to be sweating so you won’t feel all gross and sticky!
