Well hello my beautiful people! Welcome back to my blog. I am posting on a Thursday this week, which is definitely odd for me but hey, life gets in the way and you gotta roll with the punches and deal with it. Summer time definitely gets busy. So many plans, so many people to see, and everyone always wants to be outside having fun. Well this past weekend I was having a ton of fun. My mom, aunt, and my sister and I all did a road trip to St. Jacobs Country. For those of you who don’t know, St. Jacobs is about an hour and a half away from Toronto so it wasn’t too bad of a car ride. When I take long car rides I tend to get migraines, especially from all the stop and go traffic, so I usually like to distract myself with some music or Netflix (and maybe even a few snacks).
St. Jacobs is a very quaint and pretty town with a lot of Mennonite heritage to it. It is a huge tourist attraction, especially on Saturday mornings when the market is open. I love walking around and experiencing new and different towns. St. Jacobs is home to one of the largest population of Mennonites in Canada. You will often see them on the local roads using their traditional horse and buggy as their transportation, or working at the local St.Jacobs market selling their goods.
The Farm Pantry
One of the first places we visited was a little store called The Farm Pantry. This store had everything from jams, to spices, and even antique victorian style dish sets. One of their staple products is their homemade maple syrup! They also sell maple cookies, maple tea, maple salad dressing, and even maple mustard! Imagine putting some of that on your burgers.
You should definitely check this place out. It is the cutest little store, especially if your a baker like me! You will never want to leave 🙂
La Creme
Alright, I think I found my new favourite boutique and I am willing to drive an hour and a half everyday to shop there! This cute little boutique called La Creme is in the middle of the St. Jacobs village. Everything in here is pink, white and sparkly. They even have their own lotion and body spray line, which smelt amazing by the way!
This store had so many unique and girly pieces in their collections. Although I decided not to splurge on this trip I will defiantly be back once the fall hits to get some cute and stylish pieces 🙂
If your a girly girl who loves a little sparkle in her life, then this is definitely the store for you!
If I’m not shopping in the stores then you will probably find me lounging on the cutest pink lawn chairs to be found! These bad boys caught my eye a mile away!
Market Road Antiques
Alright who doesn’t love a good bargain? I know I do! Across from the St.Jacobs market there is a huge building dedicated to selling old antiques. They sell comic books, records, paintings, books, tea sets, furniture, jewelry, and so much more! I have bought some great items here in the past. My two favourite role models are Audrey Hepburn and Marylin Monroe. If I could live in a past life, I would definitely travel back to the 50s and 60s. The fashion, the music, the decor and the lifestyle just seems so elegant and glamorous! Every time I venture to the antique store, I always keep my eye out for portraits or books involving these two inspirational ladies! So far, I have quite the collection.
Doesn’t this living room look like one of the sets from a scene in Hairspray? Look at that old rotary phone and the beautiful victorian styled tea set!
I can’t wait until the day when I own my own house and can decorate it with so many different antiques and pretty little niknaks.
If you want a change in scenery and would love a good road trip or even a weekend get away, this is one of the cutest little towns to visit. I highly recommend it. 🙂
Have you ever been to St. Jacobs market before? What was your favourite place to visit? 🙂
