Even though Canadian winters aren’t the most comfortable of seasons, they are quite pretty. Living in Canada my entire life, you can never get used to the blistering cold days or the snowy and stormy nights. You do however learn to dress fashionably throughout the season. Don’t get me wrong, there are days where you need to sacrifice fashion for warmth because temperatures can reach -40 °C and 5 feet of snow. Everyone who lives anywhere south of me, I am quite jealous during the winter months. In today’s blog post I am going to share with you some of my winter essentials I cannot live without.

Were you ever that kid that thought they were too “cool” to dress in layers in the winter time? Don’t worry so was I and look back today and I never understood what went through my head! As an adult, I can appreciate the extra layers and use them to my advantage to find ways to make myself look more presentable and find ways to glam up my outfit!
Toque
This is a recent one for me. As a kid, I always thought I looked like a boy wearing a toque and I never thought it was “pretty” so I always stayed away from them. Then one day I was walking through a department store and saw all of these cute toques and decided to try one on because I desperately wanted a cute toque. Lo and behold I found a style that looked cute and kept me warm. My favourite toques are the ones with a fluffy pom pom’s at the top. They are adorable and make your outfit look fun!
Scarves & Mittens
I don’t know if this is me but I cannot stand wearing gloves. I have always been a mittens person. Keeping my fingers together and touching skin to skin, I find this keeps my hands a lot warmer than if they were separated. Does anyone else do the same thing? Plus I find mittens to be a lot cuter and they come with prettier designs like pearls and sequins to glam up your outfit. I used to be obsessed with scarves. I would wear them so many different ways and make them my statement piece for all my winter outfits. You can even wear them with your regular outfits with a cardigan and jeans. It keeps you looking warm and chic.
Boots
This is the trickiest thing for me to purchase and here’s why. Firstly, you want a boot that looks stylish. Secondly, it needs to be waterproof. Lastly, you don’t want it to get ruined with salt stains so you want to invest in a good cleaner. Now the tricky part is to be able to check all of those three boxes off. Let me tell you, it isn’t easy! All of the half good boots out there just aren’t pretty, plain and simple. This year I came across these low cut, faux fur booties that have worked wonders. They are warm, waterproof, and so adorable! You definitely cannot go wrong with this purchase. If you need more ideas on how to style chunky boots check out this post I wrote last year.
