The weather in Charleston this time of year is very hot and humid. We were lucky enough to not get caught in any of their crazy rain storms during our stay. Since we were lucky to get such beautiful weather and with the humidity at its peak, we knew it was a great idea to visit one of Charleston’s beautiful beaches. Prior to departing for our vacation, I made sure to look up their beaches and plan out our trip according, as I do every vacation. We decided to rent a car and drive out to Sullivan’s Island, as it was just a 20-minute drive from our hotel in downtown Charleston.
The atmosphere at Sullivan’s Island was amazing. It was a very casual and relaxed environment. It was a quiet beach with not a lot of people and very family friendly. We certainly do not have beaches like this here in Canada so I was sure to soak it all up and enjoy my experience there. The houses along the waterfront were absolutely stunning. Gavin and I couldn’t keep our eyes off them. They were very well kept and with a history so rich in American past times, Sullivans Island is a distinctive and timeless getaway, tucked in between the Atlantic coast and the gorgeous country marshlands.
For lunch, we decided to stop by one of their local restaurants, The Obstinate Daughter, to enjoy their delicious pizza and seafood. You can read more about it here. One common thing Gavin and I love most about Charleston and surrounding areas was that it was a very quaint and peaceful town. Everything was well kept, people were very pleasant, and all the places we visited were very serene. Being able to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life here and Toronto can be quite relaxing, especially if it’s on a quiet and gorgeous beach along the Atlantic.
