Growing up, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were a staple in our diets. Whenever my mother was busy and it was my dads turn to make lunches for us, it was always a simple peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich. Strawberry jam is so delicious! I have a huge sweet tooth and love anything with a sugary kick to it.
Last week my sister and I went downtown to St. Lawrence market to grab some fresh strawberries. There is nothing I love more than waking up on a beautiful Saturday morning and walking over to the farmers market to grab some fresh produce! You can check out my experience strawberry picking by clicking here.
Since strawberry jam it is a staple ingredient Β in my families pantry, I decided to try and make some home made jam myself. This recipe is super easy and really simple.
Now that the summer weather is starting to wind down, and the fall weather is arising, it will be so nice to wake up on a beautiful fall morning and enjoying some strawberry jam with some freshly baked scones with a Pumpkin Spice Latte. (Any takers? π )

- 3 Cups Fresh Strawberries
- 1 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 Freshly Squeezed Lemon
-
Wash and cut the strawberries. Pour the strawberries into a medium sized pot and set it to boil. Take a potato masher, or grind them in a food processor, and start mashing all of the strawberries together.
-
Add in the brown sugar and the juice from the lemon and stir all the ingredients together.
-
Set it to boil, make sure you are seeing the bubbles boiling, while stirring every 5 minutes or so. Make sure it boils for about 20-25 minutes.
-
Store them in a jar and refrigerate once its done boiling and the mixture starts to thicken.
