Maxi dresses are a staple item in one’s closet during the spring and summer seasons and these effortless pieces can take your outfits to new levels! One of the benefits of maxi dresses is that they are the perfect transitional to have. Every year I’m an eager beaver to take out my spring and summer wardrobe, and like any Canadian winter, it can be very chilly at times. Maxi dresses are my go-to piece to transition seasons with because it still welcomes the spring vibes while also trying to stay warm. Not only are maxi dresses great transitional pieces, but they are also perfect pieces to wear during the spring and summer season. I love wearing lightweight maxi dresses on the beach with a gorgeous floppy hat and possibly a drink in hand 😉 .
The hot weather in the summertime can sometimes get the best of us and the last thing we want to do is cover up our body head to toe in fabric. I get it, and I understand, but a few tips I keep in mind while selecting an appropriate maxi dress for the warmer days is making sure to go for an ankle-grazing dress. You don’t need to wear a maxi dress that goes all the way to the ground. Try to find maxi dresses that sit right above your ankles to allow your lower body to catch some breeze! Due to the fact that I am a total height of 5’3 I typically can never find dresses that sit above the ankle, so typically I get them hemmed.
When it comes to styling maxi dresses I typically love to keep the matter to a minimum and with florals being one of the main trends to focus on this year, long floral maxi dresses are almost a no-brainer. While there are many Spring 2018 Fashion Trends that we should focus on, this one, in particular, is one of the most popular. In the dress I am wearing below I love the different layering of detail going from small flowers to medium-sized floral patterns. This detailing gives the dress some depth and creative edge to it.
