When it comes to my skin care routine, it is something I have taken very seriously over the last 5 years. For instance, prior too, I would only use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer and call it a day. Little did I know that you needed to treat your skin with a little more love if you wanted it to look flawless. However, I am not a dermatologist, or a skincare specialist. However, I have done a lot of trial and error and testing products that I think are right for my skin type. I have a pretty dry and a lightly oily skin. So my main focus is finding the right moisturizing products. Below I will share with you my new at home facial routine.
Finding a skin care routine that is right for you is not a walk in the park.
This new routine that I will share with you today is the step by step process I use from 1-10. I give my self an at home facial 2 times a week for optimal results. But, when the pandemic started and we were quarantined I thought it was a great time to start. I wasn’t using make up products everyday and I was able to really care for and maintain my results. Moreover, you may have noticed from my previous skin care routine that a lot of my products have changed. With my at home facial routine, I tested a number of products before I mastered it. As a result, this is the step by step process I have created for myself.
Firstly, this routine may work for me, and some of these products may work for you as well. Secondly, a lot of us have different skin types so it is always good to check with your dermatologist if you have very sensitive skin before purchasing or using some of these products. Lastly, do your research! Look at reviews, discover your issues with your skin and look for the right products that will help fix that. In addition, I have found it really helpful to learn from other experts. Prior to COVID, I did visit a dermatologist to two to get their opinions on the right facial products I needed. After that, I found it a lot easier to be on the right track for my skin care routine. However, none of these products I mentioned in this post are recommended by a specialist.
1. Facial Steamer
I absolutely love my portable steamer. This steamer really helps to open up your pores and helps loosen any buildup of dirt for a deeper cleanse. It makes removing dirt and blackheads off your face a lot easier. The combination of warm steam and an increase in perspiration dilates your blood vessels and increases circulation.
2. Cetaphil
I have been using Cetaphil for years now. It is my favourite gentle. cleanser to use on my face day or night. Unlike some other facial cleansers, Cetaphil cleansers are non-drying and perfect for sensitive skin. It gently cleanse, soothe, and soften dry your skin.
3. Silicone Face Cleanser and Massager
This is my favourite part of my facial routine. Silicone is a very hygienic material and is bacteria resistant. The little brushes are so gentle on the face and give a great massage. After a long day, the first thing I love to do is wash my face and give is a nice massage. It also stimulates blood flow and softens your skin.
4. Deep Pore Medicated Acne Pads
This guy is my go to warrior when I am dealing with those stubborn blemishes. I love using them when I wake up or before I go to bed. They fight acne for 24 hours and instantly remove dirt, oil and dead skin and keep bacteria away.
5. AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
For what this product does for the price, it’s a complete steal! I couldn’t believe how amazing this product is and when I continuously use it I see more and more of a difference. It gives a deeper exfoliation to help fight signs of pore congestion and improve skin radiance. My acne scares have improved dramatically since using this.
6. Summer Friday R&R Mask
After using the Oxy pads and the chemical solution, I like to use a softer product to smooth out my skin and help replenish it. In this mask there are delicately ground wild rose powder beads that help get rid of dead skin cells. There are also antioxidant-rich oils that help your skin become moist and soothing healing.
7. Oil Control Toner
One of my favourite things about this toner is the smell. I adore the smell of peppermint. It gives you the “fresh” feeling you would want for your skin. It is gentle, helps unclog pores, purify, and minimize the appearance of pores. Instantly, the complexion is fresh and invigorated with a matte, healthy-looking glow.
8. Vitamin C Serum
Vitamin C is the key to maintaining a smooth, even, and glow complexion. I really like using vitamin C to help target my pigmentation from my blemishes. It really helps to brighten out skin, improve texture and reduce dark spots.
9. Collagen Serum
Collagen serums are great to stimulate production of structural protein, which is responsible for youthful, supple skin, and fight back against sagging and fine lines. I love using this before my moisturizer and especially before bed to make the magic work all night long.
10. Moisturizer
Lastly, the final step in my skin care routine needs to be one that leaves me feeling youthful! This moisturizer is amazing and has a subtle cucumber sent which makes me feel like I just left the spa.
I really hope you enjoyed this! Moreover, if you wanted to see more on my at home facial routine, be sure to check out my IGTV for a follow along.
