DO you find our self staring at a closet full of beautiful clothing, yet always wear the same items? Trust me I know, I’ve been in your shoes before. We get into a comfort zone and with life always being so busy and constantly on the go, we just gravitate to what we know will work. Whether it’s the same blue jeans and a striped shirt or the same black dress, we know what we love and what we feel good in so it’s an easy pick in the mornings. In today’s blog post I am going to show you how I chose 12 items in my closet and created 12 new outfits! Super simple and an easy way to help you develop ideas on how to create new and fresh looking outfits for yourself!
First things first, we always need a fun palette of colours to work with. With spring and summer here there is no excuse to shy away from playing with colour. I decided to go with very minimal basic colours and gravitate towards more bright and fun colours. It is always good to have at least one basic colour to work with. Now, this can be a colour like white, black, or grey, typically a colour that can act as a neutral or a canvas to help compliment the other pieces in your outfits and wardrobes. Lately, I have been loving mustard yellow so I knew I wanted it to be in my spring capsule this season! It is usually more of a fall colour, but I love how it is able to complement other spring colours and finish a look beautifully.
When it came to choosing pieces for this outfit, I knew I wanted to diversify myself and pick different items while also thinking of the things I would need during the spring. For example, for those of us who live in warmer climates, you probably wouldn’t add a jacket or a blazer in your wardrobe but because I live in Canada, it can tend to be a little chilly at the beginning of the spring season. I decided to keep my accessories neutral so that I can add the fun colours and patterns into my outfit. Going with a simple nude shoe that is cute and chic is very easy when it comes to styling them with your outfit. You don’t have to think much about it because a nude shoe goes with anything! When you are putting together your spring capsule wardrobe, make sure to add different patterns and textures as well. I added this cute lavender pairs of jeans, a fun floral skirt, a lace skirt, and a chiffon blouse. Ideally, you want to grab a few items that you can mix and match with and make it easy to create new outfits. Once you have your items together then the fun starts! You get to mix and match and see how many different outfits you can create with just a few pieces!
