Summer isn’t the same without a little strawberry picking. When I was a child I never ever liked strawberries. I know, I was a weird kid. I always thought they were a bitter fruit because I ate bad one, one day. A few years ago I thought it would be fun to go strawberry picking just for the activity. I would bring the fruit home for my friends and family and just have fun being outside picking them. Seeing everyone snacking while picking the strawberries tempted me to try them again. The deliciously juicy fruit had me hooked from that day forward.
Every summer Gavin and I create a to-do list for ourselves. We always want to make the best of our summers, and strawberry picking is always on the top of our list. We try and pick a new farm to go to every year and this year we stopped by Andrew Scenic Acres. You might remember us visiting here when we picked peonies last time. This far has so much for you to see and so many things for you to do! We absolutely love it and are definitely coming back.
One of the conditions I need to abide by when going strawberry picking is to bake a dessert with the strawberries I picked for Gavin. Last year I made him fresh strawberry jam, which actually turned out to be a really easy recipe to make and really delicious. If you like strawberries and want to make a fun summer dessert for your friends, then you should check out my recipe for chocolate covered strawberries.
Make sure to stay tuned for what I choose to bake this year with the strawberries we picked 🙂
